Born in Palermo (Italy) in 1978, Vincenzo started his formation at a senior high school specializing in science education. From 1998-2002 he studied Natural Sciences at the University of Siena (Italy) where he took his master degree in 2002 with 108/110 points. In 2000 he took part in the European program of cultural exchange (ERASMUS) and moved for one year to Germany at the Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz. -------------------------------------------------------------- From 2002-2004, after a three months apprenticeship, he got a position as assistant researcher at the Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali di Torino, MRSN (Italy) in the research team of Franco Andreone. During this years, besides the research activity at the MRSN, mainly focused on the ecology and conservation of the Malagasy fauna, he designed and conducted as a free-lancer various assessment projects for the Asti Province, the Piedmont Region, and the Politecnico di Torino. --------------------------------------------------------------------- In 2005 Vincenzo moved back to Germany where he accomplished his doctoral degree in biology at the Goethe-University in collaboration with the Research Institute and Natural History Museum Senckenberg (Frankfurt am Main) and the Museum of Malawi (Blantyre). In December 2009 Vincenzo took his PhD with a thesis about: “Amphibians of Malawi, an analysis of their richness and community diversity in a changing landscape” and the final valutation magna cum laude. Additionally, during 2007-2008 he worked for the Goethe-University as coordinator of the zoological part for the draft of an interdisciplinary research project to be submitted to the Deutsche Forschungs Gemeinschaft DFG) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From 2004 until 2010 Vincenzo lived for research purposes 3-4 months/year in Malawi and Madagascar, participated at eight international congresses and workshops around the world where he presented the results of his researches to the scientific community, cooperated as associated editor and reviewer with international scientific magazines, and published 30 scientific contributions among them the book “Amphibians of Malawi, an analysis of their richness and community diversity in a changing landscape” published by Chimaira (www.chimaira.de). --------------------------------------------------------------------- In the last years his interest was mainly based on the diversity and composition of amphibian communities in Europa and Africa with a focus on applicable conservation. Now he is looking for a new challenge. He would like to give more place to theoretical though, and to explore possible scenarios of sustainability which include ecology, politics, and economy.
