| Vicente Mata-Silva is a herpetologist born in Rio Grande, Oaxaca, Mexico. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at El Paso, studying the ecology of the Rock Rattlesnake (Crotalus lepidus), in the northern Chihuahuan Desert.
