My name is Tariq Stark and as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by herpetology. Amphibians are my biggest love with reptiles as a close second. My passion led me to study Bsc. Wildlife Management on the Van Hall-Larenstein University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden. My education took me far accross the Dutch border to Central America and South Africa where I did various herpetological studies with my girlfriend and partner in crime Carlijn Laurijssens. My research and interest are emerging infectious diseases in amphibians, herpetological biodiversity surveys, amphibian surveying, education concerning amphibians and writing (both scientific and popular). I am a very proud member of the IUCN Amphibian Specialist Group (workgroup Communication and Education) for which I write articles, blogs and various other activities. For the Wandering Herpetologist, of which I am also a proud member, I also write blogs and raise funds for the plight of the Fire Salamander (Salamandra salamandra terrestris) in the Netherlands.
