Sharon Chester is a natural history writer, photographer and illustrator. She was a natural history lecturer on expedition cruise ships for thirteen years. She photographed remote locations for Comstock, a stock photo agency, for many years. Her photos have appeared in magazines and books such as National and International Wildlife, Ranger Rick, and Sierra Club's "Mother Earth: Through the Eyes of Women Photographers." She has written and illustrated several field guides to the fauna and flora of the Antarctic and South Pacific, as well as destination guides to the Arctic and North Atlantic. Ms. Chester is author and illustrator of "A Wildlife Guide to Chile" published by Princeton University Press in 2008. Her book "The Arctic Guide: Wildlife of the Far North" is scheduled for publication by Princeton University Press in 2014. Sharon and her family migrate seasonally between homes in the San Francisco Bay area and rural Illinois.
