I am a plant, wildlife, and restoration ecologist with an expertise extending across a wide range of California ecosystems including fresh and salt water marshes, riparian corridors, vernal pools, grasslands, chaparral, coastal scrub, and coniferous forests. I integrate multiple disciplines within my work including remote sensing and GIS analysis, riparian and wetland hydrology, plant systematics and taxonomy, vegetation mapping and classification, wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, soil classification, wetland delineation, historical ecology, and invasive species management. I have conducted both reconnaissance and protocol-level field surveys and habitat assessments for many special-status wildlife species including northern spotted owl, western snowy plover, bank swallow, coho salmon, Mission blue butterfly, vernal pool brachiopods, California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander, San Francisco garter snake, and San Francisco dusky-footed woodrat. I have been approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a qualified biologist for several projects involving California red-legged frog and California tiger salamander. My work in California wetlands has focused on understanding how hydrology and soil properties interact to influence plant communities and applying this understanding to the restoration of wetland and riparian habitat. I have helped design, implement, monitor, and report on a variety of wetland and riparian restoration projects in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and have produced concise, well-planned, permit compliance documents.
