| Axel Kwet, born in 1965, received his PhD in Biology from the University of Tübingen, Germany, in 2001. He is a professional herpetologist with focus on taxonomy and ecology of neotropical amphibians and reptiles, especially in southern Brazil and Uruguay. From 2000-2011 he was employed in the Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Stuttgart. Since 2004 he is vicepresident of the German Herpetological Society (DGHT).
