|Dr. Bazell is a retired physician who began developing his interest in photography when he was given his first camera on his sixth birthday. That was three years after he got his first pair of eyeglasses. In a continuing attempt to see what was going on, he began doing close-up photography of plant material, particularly flowers, about 40 years ago. He has been slowly acquiring images of California native plant species, mostly in the past 12 years.
