CalPhotos photographer and reviewer profile for Adam Searcy:

I currently work for the California Native Plant Society as the CNPS Rare Plant Botanist. I have worked as a biologist in California for various agencies, non-profits, consulting firms, or as an independent biological consultant since 2005. I spend as much free time as I can studying the local flora and enjoy 'chasing' rare and unusual plant taxa to learn more about their morphology, habits, habitats, etc.
Affiliation: California Native Plant Society
Special interests/expertise: Much of my past work involved birds but I slowly transitioned to more botanical work including rare plant surveys, weed mapping, vegetation classification, vegetation surveys, etc. I have 20 years of experience in field biology, including both herbarium and field work involving plant identification. I am most familiar with the flora of the Channel Islands, Western Transverse Ranges, western Mojave Desert, and the central and southern Coast Ranges.
