This is one among a series of photos of a specimen from the Essig Museum at UC Berkeley.

The specimen was collected by J. A. Chemsak on July 17, 1964; determined as Ceriana capitis Curran by F. C. Thompson in 1976; and has Essig Musuem Entomology Collection number 352754.

For those who follow the 'genus approach' to circumscribing the sub-tribe groups within Cerioidini this would be referred to using the binomial Polybiomyia capitis; for those who follow the 'subgenus approach' it would be most clearly referred to using the trinomial Ceriana (Polybiomyia) capitis.
