INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  May 13, 2021
  • location   Mt Hamilton (Santa Clara County, California, US)
  • family Brassicaceae
  • notes   Flowers of Streptanthus glandulosus ssp. glandulosus.

To my sentimental, old-school sensibilities this is the 'true' S. g. ssp. glandulosus. I guess we could informally refer to this 'dark-purple colored form' as S. g. ssp. glandulosus 'var. glandulosus'...while the 'lilac-rose colored form' (formerly known as S. albidus ssp. peramoenus, and currently lumped under S. g. ssp. glandulosus) could be referred to as S. g. ssp. glandulosus 'var. peramoenus'.
