notes I believe this is a female Anthophora just beginning to work a flower of A. lentiginosus var. nigricalycis. It appears as if she has not yet forced the 'wings' and 'keel' of the corolla down and out of the way...but you can see she has already collected and transferred a decent amount of the orange Astragalus pollen to the collecting-hairs of her hind tibia.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
