  • notes   The wreck of sailing schooner is slowly eroding from the sand at Point Sable. Believed to be the remains of the transport ship 'George F. Foster,' a two-masted schooner loaded with lumber that was bound from Grand Haven to Chicago in the fall of 1872 when she was blown off course and lost in an autumn gale.
