  • notes   Slo.: hibrid med pikastocvetno in trizobo kukavico - Orchis x austriaca A.Kern., Orchis x dietrichiana Bogenh. - Habitat: extensively used dry grassland, almost flat terrain; full sun; average precipitations 1.600 - 1.800 mm/year, average temperature 10 - 11 deg C, elevations 240 m (790 feet), Sub-Mediterranean phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil. - Comments (pertain to pictures in Flicker album Neotinea x dietrichiana): Neotinea x dietrichiana is a hybrid between Burnt-Tip Orchid Neotinea ustulata and Three-Toothed Orchid Neotinea tridentata. The former is a quite isolated species from others. Its flower shape is so much specialized that only one pollinator is visiting it. Hence, its hybrids are extremely rare. However, with one exception, which makes the rule - Neotinea x dietrichiana, which is actually a quite common hybrid. - Protected according to: Uredba o zavarovanih prostoživečih rastlinskih vrstah, poglavje A, Uradni list RS, št. 46/2004 (Regulation of protected wild plants, chapter A, Official Gazette of Republic Slovenia, no. 46/2004), (2004). - Pravilnik o uvrstitvi ogroženih rastlinskih in živalskih vrst v rdeči seznam, Uradni list RS, št. 82/2002 (Regulation of enlisting of endangered plant and animal species onto Red List, Official Gazette of Republic Slovenia, no. 82/2002) (2002). Indirectly enlisted in the Slovene Red List of rare and endangered species, marked by 'V' representing a vulnerable species. The hybrid is not listed directly, but both its parents are. - Ref.: (1) P. Delforge, Orchids of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, (3. edition), A&C Black, London 2006, pp 345. (2) H.
