notes There are 1000's of lizardtail plants growing in the relatively moist (from frequent fog) coastal habitat here. However this lone plant, growing on a rocky bank by the trail, was uncharacteristically 'visually well-isolated'. Usually lizardtail is buried in masses of surrounding coastal scrub, which tends to obscure the habitus of the plant (at least in a photo). That said, the steep, rocky niche here seems to have led to a more spawling habitus for this plant...vs. a taller, denser, more rounded habitus perhaps more typical for most members of the species.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
