notes On flower umbels of Cymopterus terebinthinus var. californicus. Goes to Exoprosopa caliptera in Osten Saken's key here and agrees well with his description of the species here. Note the near exact agreement with the wing drawing below: In particular, the dark brown infuscation spills out beyond the vein bounding the apical dip in the marginal cell (= r1); and there are 3 small hyaline spots located more proximally in cell r1. Also, the medial notch in the white band on T2 (= 2nd abdominal tergite), and the positions of the white specks on T3-T5 all are in good agreement with characters of E. caliptera. photo category: Animal - Invertebrate-Insect
