notes Detail of the fruiting head and pappus on the galled plant here. The very short pappus scales indicate Microseris douglasii ssp. tenella here. These 3 photos document the gall of cynipid wasp Antistrophus microseris on the host plant Microseris douglasii ssp. tenella. All previous posts on CalPhotos and iNaturalist appeared to be on the nominate subspecies M. douglasii ssp. douglasii...and some posts on iNaturalist on Uropappus may actually be a closely-related but different species of cynipid (a revised circumsciption of members of this group is currently underway by Louis Nastasi at Penn State). photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
