location
(SnFrB) Santa Cruz Mountains, Ben Lomond Mountain (Santa Cruz County, California, US)family
Fabaceae
plant community Open understory of burned live oak/tanoak/redwood forestnotes A population of ca. 1000+ plants was recently discovered in the CZU Lightning Complex Fire burn scar by David Lyons on iNaturalist. As the species is not known from this area (it was only previously known from Humboldt and Mendocino counties), he was not able to identify it. Ken Hickman alerted me to Lyon's observation, and said it may be Astragalus agnicidus, so I immediately photographed it and collected voucher specimens, and shared them with Aaron Liston at OSU, and he confirmed Hickman's initial identification, adding that it was a 'significant find.'photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
