notes Root gall caused by gall wasps. Host is Quercus agrifolia (coast live oak). Here the gall was detached from the tree and sawed in half on November 7 to expose the larval chambers. The gall contained fully developed adults, along with tiny larvae which seemed to be cynipid larvae. It's unclear if the larvae were inducers of the gall or inquilines (guests). I dissected out a few adults. At least 12 more adults emerged on their own from this gall during January 2022.photo category: Animal - Invertebrate-Insect
