California, USnotes Photos of Monolopia congdonii. Some older (1990s) and some newer (2007 - present). Older photos were taken by previous BLM Hollister (Central Coast) Field Office employees and newer photos were mostly taken by me (Ryan O'Dell). Most photos are from populations at Panoche Creek, Kettleman Hills, and Jacalitos Creek, with a few others from Carrizo Plain. Habitat of the species is defined by: 1) San Joaquin Desert climate (arid), 2) sandy soil (alluvial or on sandstone), 3) creek terraces (primarily) or low rolling hills (bluffs), 4) low density of annual grass, 5) intact habitat - not bladed or tilled (farmed) historically.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
