Mono Hot Springs (Fresno County, California, US)notes Local subspecies of Mono Hot Springs area - subsp. alticola. The leaves are much shorter than subsp. sierrae. Sandy soil derived from granite. Open patches between shrubs, on granite bedrock benches (locally gently sloped areas). This specimen was horticulturally grown in Hollister, CA. Koppen climate Csa hot summer Mediterranean.
