Lower Trenta valley, between villages Soča and Trenta, right bank of river Soča, next to the trail from Trenta 2b to farmhouse Matevž, Trenta 1, right bank of Skokar ravine, East Julian Alps (Posočje, Slovenia)notes yn.: Mycobilimbia hypnorum (Lib.) Kalb & Hafellner,, Lecidea hypnorum Lib.,, Biatora atrofusca Flot. ex Hepp. - Habitat: Mixed, predominantly Fagus sylvatica forest; moderately incline mountain slope, southeast aspect; calcareous, colluvial ground, mostly in shade; partly protected from direct rain by tree canopies; average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 7-9 deg C, elevations 575 m (1.890 feet), alpine phytogeographical region. Substratum: On moss and other organic debris laying on ground (small twigs, dead leaves). Comment: Bryobilimbia hypnorum is known form Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. This generally rather rarely observed species is a cool-temperate to arctic-alpine, probably circumpolar lichen found on mosses, plant debris, soil or bark. Its photobionts are Chlorococcum green algae. The genus Bryobilimbia is relatively a new one establish only in 2014. Before that this species belonged to several other genera. Spores elliptical, (apparently) smooth with 0 – 1 transverse septa. Dimensions: (6,7) 9,1 - 11,3 (13) × (3,5) 4,4 - 5,6 (6,4) µm; Q = (1,6) 1,7 - 2,2 (2,9); N = 16; Me = 10,1 × 5,1 µm; Qe = 2. Spores measured in the asci, therefore possibly immature. No free spores found. Asci broadly clavate. Dimensions: (62) 65.9 - 68.1 (76.6) × (9.5) 10.5 - 13.4 (14) µm; Q = (5) 5.1 - 5.9 (6.9); N = 7; Me = 67.5 × 12.1 µm; Qe = 5.7.
