  • location   Krakov forest (Krakovski gozd), 2.5 km north-northeast of Kostanjevica na Krki, near Malo Mraševo village (Dolenjska, Slovenia)
  • notes   Slo.: Nordenova močvirnica - syn.: Epipactis mecsekensis A. Molnár & Robatsch, Epipactis moravica Batoušek, Epipactis albensis subsp. moravica (Batoušek) Kreutz, Epipactis persica subsp. moravica (Batoušek) H. Baumann & R. Lorenz - Habitat: Frequently flooded old and protected oak forest; closed canopies; almost vegetation free ground; flat terrain; in shade; high ground and air humidity; protected from direct rain by tree canopies, elevation 145 m (480 feet); average precipitations 1.200 – 1.300 mm/year, average temperature 10-11 deg C, Sub-Panonian phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil. - Comment: Epipactis nordeniorum is a rarity in Slovenia and elsewhere. It is known from only a few European countries. The small, inconspicuous helleborine with usually only a few flowers is hard to spot. It is rare probably because the species is strictly bound to forests frequently flooded by nearby river or it grows close to natural, marshy ponds not influenced by men – and such habitats are to-day rarities too. The species doesn't proliferate by normal sexual reproduction but it is self-pollinating and doesn't need pollinating insects. - Protected according to: Uredba o zavarovanih prostoživečih rastlinskih vrstah, poglavje A, Uradni list RS, št. 46/2004 (Regulation of protected wild plants, chapter A, Official Gazette of Republic Slovenia, no. 46/2004), (2004). - Ref.: (1) Personal communication with and shown to me by Mr. Branko Dolinar, www.orhideje.si (2) B.
