| Reviewer's comments: | | | "This looks a lot like scalebud, Anisocoma acaulis. The basal leaves of Malacothrix californica are usually (almost) linear, with correspondingly narrow lobes. Also, see photo 6205 3041 0703 0101 taken same place, same day. Phyllaries look much like Anisocoma, and not as described for M. californcus ("outer phyllaries...lanceolate, tangled-hairy".) Unfortunately, there are no other photos (yet) that show the phyllaries of M. californicus. Does anyone reading this know if the plant might in fact be californicus?" |
