  • notes   Big Blue Hills near the climatic and floristic western edge of the San Joaquin Desert. Quercus x alvordiana (Q. john-tuckeri x Q. douglasii) on Temblor marine shale. This unusual oak hybrid reaches its arid climate limit (trailing edge) here at Big Blue Hills/Cantua and in the Temblor Range near Carrizo Plain.
