About 1/3 of a mile south of Walker Pass Campground on the PCT (Tulare County, California, US)family

notes Walk south about 1/3 a mile or so on the PCT from the Walker Pass campground and you'll hit a turn in the trail on a gentle promontory that RT Hawke calls 'Astragalus bend'. At the right time of year, you'll see a number of these low-growing mats of A. purshii var. tintus in glorious flower.
