INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Jun 8, 2014
  • latitude 46.22174   longitude 13.60896     View on Google Maps.
  • location   Right bank of river Soča between villages Idrsko and Kamno, right of the dirt road leading from the main paved road Kobarid – Tolmin to the riverbank; about 200 m from the main road; East Julian Alps (Posočje, Slovenia)
  • notes   Slo.: čmrljeliko mačje uho - syn.: Ophrys fuciflora Scop., Orchis fuciflora Crantz. - Habitat: Grassland, extensively mowed, locally flat terrain; alluvial, calcareous ground; open, partly sunny place; surrounded by riparian, broadleaved forest; elevation 182 m (600 feet); average precipitations 2.000-2.600 mm/year, average temperature 10-11 deg C, alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil. - Comment: Unity 2007 Ophrys holosericea had been considered a single very variable taxon. It had not been split in subspecies according to Slovenian key (Ref. 5). Later two subspecies have been broadly accepted: Ophrys holosericea ssp. tetraloniae with somewhat smaller flowers and Ophrys holosericea ssp. untchjii with more greenish flowers. The old Ophrys holosericea (s.l.) become Ophrys holosericea ssp. holosericea. There are differences in the shape of the lip of these taxa. Ophrys holosericea ssp. holosericea is supposed to have the lips broader at their ends – resembling a trapezoid (see my Flickr albums for Ophrys holosericea ssp. untchjii and Ophrys holosericea ssp. tetraloniae). Nevertheless, these taxa are very variable too and distinguishing among them is often difficult. - Protected according to: Uredba o zavarovanih prostoživečih rastlinskih vrstah, poglavje A, Uradni list RS, št. 46/2004 (Regulation of protected wild plants, chapter A, Official Gazette of Republic Slovenia, no. 46/2004), (2004). Pravilnik o uvrstitvi ogroženih rastlinskih in živalskih vrst v rdeči seznam, Uradni list RS, št. 82/2002 (Regulation of enlisting of endangered plant and animal species onto Red List, Official Gazette of Republic Slovenia, no. 82/2002) (2002). Enlisted in the Slovene Red List of rare and endangered species, marked by 'V' representing a vulnerable species. - Ref.: (1) R. Lorenz, G. Perazza, F. Martini.
