INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Mar 30, 2019
  • location   Brandenburg, District Uckermark, near village of Ottenhagen, 'Jagenbruch' (Germany)
  • family Ranidae
  • order Anura
  • class Amphibia
  • habitat  Common Elder marsh with Alnus glutinosa
  • notes   Former breeding site of Rana arvalis. The current situation shows that the vegetation structures suitable as spawning places are already disturbed (fell dry) due to the lowering of the groundwater level. The 'Jagenbruch' is part of the nature reserve 'Damerower Wald, Schlepkower Wald und Jagenbruch'. The area covers 671 hectares and suffers from the sinking of the groundwater level. In the 1970s and 1980s, there were reproduction communities of Rana arvalis with several thousand individuals.
