plant community river riparian (mesquite bosque) corridor in Chihuahuan Desert scrub at 4000' (1220m)notes rank, strong smelling perennial with mounding habit, velvety/viscid foliage and large, exceptionally beautiful flowers, in disturbed calcareous alluvial silts and gravels near arroyo mouth merging into Rio Grande River.
