plant community Chihuahuan Desert gypsum scrub at 3869' (1179m)notes erect, suffrutescent perennial gypsophilic endemic on road cut in bedded evaporites of the Castile Formation. Linear leaves, strongly condupliate (folded), square (4 angled) buds prominent, flowers open by mid-morning. New species (2014), previously placed under O. berlandieri. Also often cursorily mistaken for O. hartwegii v. filifiolia.keywords: CDR, Chihuahuan Desert, gypsum
