| Reviewer's comments: | | | "Since the taxonomic work on the Genus Mimulus most species have been split into Erythranthe or Diplacus. Mimulus lewisii was split into two species of Eryranthe mostly by corolla color and geographic location. E. lewisii includes populations mostly in far northern CA (Cascade and Klamath/Siskiyou provinces) which are more red with little or no yellow throat markings. E. rubescens is paler red - pink with yellow throat markings, and is found in the areas south including the Sierra Nevada. I have photographed populations along Tioga Pass R. and they have been identified as E. erubescens by "Mimulus" experts. Bob Case" |
