  • notes   This plant looks very similar to Viola macloskeyi but occurs at lower elevation (near sea level in this case) and does not spread by stolons as V. macloskeyi does. It is white in this population at Big Lagoon but is often lilac or purple. V. macloskeyi is white. V. palustris is uncommon in California but widespread elsewhere.
