Asparagaceae
plant community Chihuahuan Desert Larrea-Prosopis-Yucca scrub at 3230' (985m)notes plant on silty bolson flats, typically dying at anthesis. Long known as A. scabra for rough scabrous leaves, a confused/misidentified type specimen and subsequent application of an illegitimate name (A. asperrima) left this common Chihuahuan Desert agave of northeastern Mexico as A. parryi v. parryi under nomenclature rules. Hopefully further study will provide at least separate varietal/sub-species status, if not re-designation at species level, for this clearly distinctive race.keywords: CDR, Chihuahuan Desert
