Asparagaceae
plant community Chihuahuan Desert Parthenium-Larrea scrub at 6146' (1873m)notes hillside slope with calcareous gravels on over white blocky limestone outcrops. Long known as A. scabra, a confused type specimen and subsequent application of an illegitimate name (A. asperrima) left this common Chihuahuan Desert agave of northeastern Mexico as A. parryi v. parryi under nomenclature rules. Hopefully further study will provide at least separate varietal status, if not re-designation at species level, for this clearly distinctive population.keywords: CDR, Chihuahuan Desert
