  • location   Federal Hiway MX 40 (libre) km189, 18.8 miles east of San Rafeal junction with MX 40D (cuota), 6.9 miles west of El Sol, (Mcp. Parras, Coahuila, Mexico)
  • family Asparagaceae
  • plant community   Chihuahuan Desert scrub, at 3263' (1086m)
  • notes   Long known as A. scabra for rough scabrous leaves, a confused/misidentified type specimen and subsequent application of an illegitimate name (A. asperrima) left this common Chihuahuan Desert agave of northeastern Mexico as A. parryi v. parryi under nomenclature rules. Hopefully further study will provide at least separate varietal/sub-species status, if not re-designation at species level, for this clearly distinctive race.
