  • plant community   tropical deciduious (short tree) scrub at 5250' (1770m) elev.
  • notes   Typical armament. Roadside in steeply sloping volcanic rhyolite tuff rubble at mid canyon. SYN: S. houstonii. Sites along the old gravel switchback road have now been largely destroyed by a new paved highway to Batopilas that also greatly restricts access to many former rich roadside collecting sites in the canyon.
