  • plant community   Sonoran Desert coastal thornscrub at 43' elev.
  • notes   Note distinctive array of long whisker-like acicular spines at terminal end of older columns. Plants frequent on fine silty volcanic soil of a gently sloping plain with good diversity of cacti and shrub cover but a paucity of forbs or grasses due to frequent, repeated overgrazing.
