notes This image illustrates the diagnostic characters listed below: Seeds very numerous, tiny (~0.5 mm), compressed oblong-ellipsiodal, smooth & shiny, brown. Fruit capsules dehiscent by apical valves...a diagnostic character separating Wahlenbergia from Campanula, where fruit capsules dehisce via lateral slits. The plant shown in this series is the same individual of Wahlenbergia marginata seen in this companion series. Permission was obtained to voucher this specimen in order to document its occurrence here, as it's a weedy introduced species native to Asia that's quite rare in California. The specimen will be submitted to the Jepson Herbarium. photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
