INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Apr 10, 2015
  • location   Los Osos (San Luis Obispo County, California, US)
  • notes   This distinctive plant is listed as a rare and endangered species. From the species descriptions for Eriodictyon in the Jepson Manual it is the tallest species in the genus (up to 4 meters). Among the individuals here were the tallest, most gangling, and woody-branched Eriodictyon plants I've ever seen. With their long arching branches and dense dangling clusters of narrowly-linear leaves...they definitely have a Dr. Seuss quality.
