Sierra Nevada east slope foothills.; Baker Creek, west of Big Pine (Inyo County, California, US)notes winter aspect before flowers, new leaves. Nice perennial with new basal leaves and enough of the flowering stalk and flowers to allow keying. longish ungraduated phyllaries, naked receptacle, pappus of a few scales, allowed a definitive ID.photo category: Plant - tree/shrub
