notes Growing in an opening on the south bank of the road, on an east west stretch where chaparral and oak provide a mostly shady habitat. I was happy to find this in the Santa Lucia Mnts, after a number of unsuccessful attempts years earlier. (Little did I know that within 9 days of taking these photos I would see the species in flower again the Sierra San Pedro Martir of Baja California...and also in the San Jacinto Mnts almost, but not quite :-) photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
