  • plant community   100s of plants in in bloom and seed in an area of ~1 acre
  • notes   Plants were densely populating the marine terrace from edge most of bluff to and across Highway 1, in all stages of mature seasonal growth: flower buds, open blooms, and maturing capsules. Plants did not exceed 12 cm in total height. This specimen was within 10 centimeters of the bluff edge where most plants were still in bloom and without maturing capsules.

         "This area is home to a mixed population of mostly Calochortus luteus and a very few (< 25) plants of C. clavatus recurvifolius - confined to the near-edge of the bluff. The photo description of "100's of plants" refers to C. luteus."
