plant community Open young second-growth Douglas firnotes I took my mom on an iris-hunting road trip to Oregon where we were blessed with this gorgeous specimen. The clump was located growing in a red clay bank along a logging road - note the cream and apricot colors on the two flowers represented in the same clump. Many other color combos were growing about. We witnessed color variances in each floral clump, possibly due to flower age, intermixing of seeds, or genetic variation within each plant.camera Canon SX20 IS
