  • notes   These ripples were made by the action of water at the edge of a shallow, muddy lake during the Pliocene about 3-5 million years ago. They are seen here in an oucrop of the Copper Canyon Formation. These beds, originally horizontal, have been tilted by the uplift of the Black Mountains.
