notes Three large, spiny, spherical fruits of the vine Marah horridus are visible here, as are some tendrils and leaves. This plant was straggling up and dangling from a small tree (either ceanothus or an oak). All parts of Marah plants are bitter...with the seeds reputed to be extraordinarily so. (One lick can prove fatal...just joking :-) This species has the largest fruits in the genus.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
