notes This is subgenus Ganysma, and the presence of cauline leaves and puberulent involucres narrows the ID possibilities. The break in the FNA and Jepson keys the caused some pause on my part was ''tepals monomorphic or dimorphic''. It appeared to me that the inner tepals are appreciably smaller than the outer ones, which lead me to think the tepals were dimorphic, which would go to E. angulosum. But that species has conspicuously exerted stamens, unlike here...and some floras (e.g. the flora for Monterey County by Mary Ann Matthews) qualify the ''perianth monomorphic'' character by saying ''calyx segments similar or nearly so''. So I'm fairly confident this is E. gracillimum. Abrams flora indicates E. gracillimum was considered a variety of E. angulosum in the past, but Reveal states in the FNA treatment that since the 1950's, the exserted stamens have been used as a separating character for E. angulosum.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
