location
Inyo Mountains, Near Big Pine (Inyo County, California, US)notes Waucobi Lakebeds, exposed along the western flank of the Inyo Mountains. These lacustrine sediments -- sandstone, siltstone and mudstone -- were deposited during the Pleistocene, about 2 to 3 million years ago, in an embayment that separated the newly emerging White and Inyo Mountains. As uplift continued, the embayment drained and Waucobi sediments were elevated and tilted gently westward.keywords: Earth Science, Geology, Geomorphology, Pleistocene, uplift
