notes Detail of bracted flower heads. Note that nearly all of the characters used in the Jepson Manual key for Monardella exilis are visible here: leaf maargins entire, not particularly wavy; bract lateral veins ± parallel to midvein, areas between veins ± opaque; bracts at least partly white; calyx lobe tips white; corolla white; calyx lobe tips acute, erect; stamens slightly exserted; bracts not or inconspicuously cross-veined; flower clusters 10–20 mm wide, peduncle 1–3 cm. The preceding characters, together with those visible in the habit images...showing the plant was an annual with one main stem, branching below the middle, occuring in 'se SN'...give a very clear determination here. My post here also compares well with the herbarium specimen images from SEINet, and there are a number of CCH records from near where this photo was taken. (Wish all my 'dets' of species new to me were this complete and clear cut! :-)photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
