  • notes   The milky turquoise color of Havasu Creek is due to its high alkaline content and its load of dissolved minerals, primarily carbonates, sulfates and chlorides of calcium and sodium. The creek drains an area characterized by thousands of feet of limestone deposits, most containing evaporite minerals.
