Šijec peat marsh, Pokljuka flats, Triglav National Park, East Julian Alps (Gorenjska, Slovenia)notes Slo.: gola mahovnica - Habitat: peat marsh, flat terrain, wet and acid ground, full sun, exposed to direct rain,average precipitations ~ 2.600 mm/year, average temperature 5-7 deg C, elevation 1.200 m (4.000 feet), alpine phytogeographical region. Substratum: soil, moos. Place: Šijec peat marsh, Pokljuka flats, Triglav National Park, East Julian Alps, Gorenjska, Slovenia EC. Comments: Misidentified at first as Oxycoccus microcarpus. ID corrected by Mr. Miha Kocjan. Pictures show stalks with distinctive hairs. Also the shape of the leaves speaks in favor of Oxycoccus palustris. Quite a rare find in Slovenia since bound to acid ground. Enlisted in the Slovene Red List of rare and endangered species, marked by 'V' representing a vulnerable species.
