  • notes   Detail of (capitate) inflorescence from below. Note: perianths without stipitate bases; monomorphic tepals; and glandular involucres and stem.

    This buckwheat keyed unambiguously to E. rosense var. rosense in the Eriogonum keys of the Jepson Manual and the Flora of North America.

    Found growing in a rocky volcanic substrate at approximately 9500' elevation. Surrounding vegetation consisted of various perennial herbaceous plants (e.g. Astragalus whitneyi, Penstemon speciosus, Crepis spp., etc.) and low, shrubby sagebrush species (Artemsia).
